Privacy Policy

Siargao Booking is a directory of places to stay on Siargao Island, Philippines. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

You can browse every listing on this site without an account and without telling us who you are.

What we collect

If you browse without an account. Standard server request data — the pages you open, your approximate location from your IP address, your browser and device type — plus any stays you save, which are kept in your own browser's local storage and never sent to us.

If you create an account. Your name, email address, and a password (stored hashed — we never see it). Once signed in, your saved stays sync to our server so they follow you between devices, and any reviews you write are stored with your account.

If you list a property. The details you enter about your property, your contact number, your profile photo, and the plan and billing period you choose. Property details and photos are published publicly — that's the point of a listing. Your phone number is shown to guests so they can contact you directly.

If you contact us. Your name, email address, and whatever you write in the message.

What we use it for

• Showing you listings and keeping your saved stays in sync
• Signing you in and keeping your session active
• Publishing your listing and connecting you with guests
• Answering your messages and sending service emails about your account or listing
• Understanding which pages and searches are useful, so we can improve the site

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run third-party advertising on this site.

Bookings happen off this site

Siargao Booking does not take bookings or process payments for stays. When you contact a host or follow a booking link, you leave this site and deal with the host directly, or with a platform such as Airbnb or Booking.com. Anything you share there is covered by their privacy policy, not ours.

Who else sees your data

• Hosts see the contact details you send them when you enquire about a stay.
• Our hosting and infrastructure providers store the site and its database on our behalf.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on this site, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
• Authorities, where we're legally required to disclose something.

Cookies and local storage

We use local storage to remember your saved stays and to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Clearing your browser storage signs you out and clears locally saved stays; stays saved to your account stay on the server until you remove them.

How long we keep it

Account and listing data is kept while your account is active. Message enquiries are kept while they're useful for support. If you close your account we delete your personal details, though we may keep a minimal record where we're required to.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct anything wrong, delete your account and its data, or send you a copy. The Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 gives you these rights, and we'll act on a request within 30 days. Just send us a message.

Children

This site isn't intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data we'll update this page and move the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged to account holders by email.
